Relationship Status

Kaname is decidedly inexperienced when it comes to love and relationships. What little exposure she does have to romance in the series is often overshadowed by comedic misunderstandings and/or life or death situations. Despite this, Kaname is something of a hopeless romantic, waiting aimlessly for her moment in the sun. While single throughout the majority of canon, she does eventually confess to and begin dating her body guard, Sousuke Sagara. for the sake of shippy/smut memes etc. just assume she's single unless otherwise mentioned!

Shipping Dynamics

Notorious for shipping anything and everything, so long as there's chemistry! Some of my favorite dynamics to play out with Kaname are: protector & protected, good girl/delinquent, teacher/student. The last example doesn't have to be taken literally, though I am open to pairing Kaname with older characters in the right context.

Given the codename Angel for her ethereal beauty- aka the only thing 'angelic' about her. Loud, abrasive, argumentative- the moment Kaname opens her mouth the illusion of a pure and graceful maiden dissipates into the ether. Quick to anger with an explosive temper that often gets the better of her despite the level headed persona she tries to project. She acts tough, exuding an incomparable air of confidence to mask a plethora of deep rooted insecurities and avoid moments of vulnerability.

On the surface Kaname is very outgoing, courageous, and even idolized by her peers as "The kind of girl everyone looks up to". Privately, she's just a lonely, affection starved teenager trying her absolute best, just like everyone else. Kaname has been known to suffer from bouts of depression and severe anxiety, the latter triggered by her untapped abilities as a whispered. This usually results in self isolation, enduring an intense fear of judgment, abnormaility and loss of self.

Despite these episodes of inner conflict and turmoil, Kaname doesn't allow her instability to hold her back at school. Top of her class, she maintains a perfect grade point average and actively participates in multiple clubs, earning the undeniable respect and admiration of her fellow classmates who likewise voted her as their class representative and vice president. In addition to excelling at a number of different sports and extra curricular activities, Kaname also works several part time jobs after school to help pay for her apartment and sustain an independent lifestyle.

The "Whispered"Anyone born on December 24th, 1982 at precisely at 11:50 GMT became an anomaly, caused by an accident that originated during a Soviet experiment using an Omni-Sphere that created an alternate timeline. In this universe, the Whispered are granted intuitive knowledge of futuristic technological advances that should otherwise not yet be achievable during the present day. This phenomenon is referred to as Black Technology. All Whispered innately excell in fields of math, science, technology, engineering, and each uniquely possess a specialized knowledge in a single area of Black Technology. Because of this, they are able to create high-tech devices that are far more advanced than those of the present time- like giant battle ready machines- making them highly valuable assets to military organizations who seek to use their abilities for advantages in weaponry.

Resonating In addition to their evolved intelligence in the technological, they are also born with the ability to "Resonate", or communicate with one another via the mind. This can be done regardless of distance and in some cases even during a short period after death. However, if two or more Whispered connect for an extended period or too in depth, they run the risk of infusing their personalities and becoming inseparable.

Martial Arts Kaname is in pique physical fitness for a woman her age. In addition to being incredibly athletic and trained in the traditional methods of martial arts, she has also perfectly mastered the rare but highly effective wrestling move known as the japanese ocean cyclone suplex hold. Also wickedly efficient with a paper fan.

In her younger years Kaname's time was split between both Japan and America as the daughter of a UN official. After her mother's passing she took up permanent residency in an apartment in Tokyo by herself, whilst her younger sister and father remained in New York, having a strained relationship with the latter. She attends Jindai High School as a normal second year student until the day a strange transfer student arrives and her world is turned completely upside down. Sousuke Sagara, and undercover agent for a secretive military organization known as Mithril, sent to protect Kaname from malicious terrorist forces that seek to abuse her latent powers as a Whispered. From then on her days are a precarious mix between your average teenager and chaotic military based excursions. Mostly she spends her days trying to prevent Sousuke from destroying their high school with his endless supply of militant grade artillery, as well as attempting to help him experience the ups and downs of a typical normal life.
